NAVFAC Lift Station Repair at Twentynine Palms MCGACC complete

Monday, June 21st, 2010

HydroTech is a preferred contractor under the NAVFAC Southwest Basic Ordering Agreement for Southern California and Arizona, and was selected to perform a lift station repair project at the Twentynine Palms Marine Marine Corps Ground to Air Combat Center (MCGACC) in Twentynine Palms, California.
The initially straightforward requirement for repair of Lift Station #3 ended up with many changed conditions through the course of the site work, including an inoperable vault lid that needed to be replaced and an extended period of bypass pumping to provide time for the new lid to be manufactured and installed. Despite the challenges, HydroTech worked diligently with NAVFAC Southwest and Twentynine Palm’s ROICC (Resident in Charge of Construction) office to resolve and complete the project with no disruption of service to the base operations.
In tribute to our staff’s outstanding work, Jeffrey S. Cherry of Parsons Support and a contractor to NAVFAC Southwest, stated “The quality workmanship and professional attitude you all displayed over the course of this venture is a credit to your company.”

Lake Mead Recreation Area

The National Park Service turned to the expertise and experience of HydroTech when they needed rehabilitation and replacement of essential water infrastructure in two of Nevada’s most treasured natural wonders.

At Great Basin National Park near Baker, Nevada, HydroTech was called upon to rehabilitate and repair a failing water vault. The goal was to restrict access into a confined space under the water tanks.  This included demolition work, installation of gate valves, and piping and fitting work.  There were many logistical challenges faced by our crew, including the remoteness of the location and a race to beat the clock as winter approached.

At the Lake Mead Recreation Area in southern Nevada, a lift station at Temple Bar was experiencing corrosion that compromised its structural integrity. HydroTech’s expertise in bypass pumping and cured-in-place lining were essential to the successful rehabilitation of the existing concrete wet well.  The new lift station was installed along with a sealed lid which prevented sewer gas from escaping into the atmosphere.

Barry Flynn, Utilities Systems Engineer for the National Park Service stated, “The work was performed in an outstanding manner. Their problem solving skills ensured swift resolution to prevent schedule delays and minimize costs.  HydroTech will be at the top of my list for future projects.

HydroTech’s Mentor-Protege agreement with Granite Monument to SBA’s success

Tuesday, February 2nd, 2010

The US SBA has been elemental in HydroTechs success

The US SBA has been elemental in HydroTech's success

This year, the SBA is struggling to find it’s usual budget as companies like AIG and CitiGroup are “hogging all the money”. According to The Street, The SBA has seen a “7% uptick in the SBA’s counseling services, such as the mentor/protege program in which a big company takes a disadvantaged firm under its wing so the two can compete for government contracts together. Granite Construction(GVA Quote) last month agreed to mentor contractor HydroTech Inc.”

The success of the SBA lies in it’s vast resources- “1,400 individuals at 68 field offices across the country”.

HydroTech Inc’s Cosmic Top Hat installations in California and Utah

Tuesday, October 6th, 2009

Being an authorized installer of Cosmic Top Hat™ Lateral Seal Systems gives HydroTech Inc. the opportunity to spread the news about this great trenchless technology. Two recent projects in California and Utah allowed HydroTech to work with two wastewater districts as they grapple with the challenges of keeping older systems operational. The solution? Quality workmanship, a 50+ year extended life, and a cost effective means of rehabilitation versus replacement.

Lake County Special Districts in California needed two service laterals rehabilitated. Through the cleaning and inspection process, HydroTech’s crew was able to identify previous point repairs which had restricted the laterals to 40-50% of their diameters.

By working with the project engineer an agreement was reached to open them to 100% using air compression so the Top Hat™ seals could be properly installed. A spot repair was added, and Top Hats™ were also installed at 4 additional locations. HydroTech was the prime contractor on this project. Stan Schubert of Lake County Special Districts stated, “I know we will be working together again as we have many more sites which require repair.”

PEC (Planned Engineering and Construction) out of Helena, Montana was selected as the prime contractor for a large sewer rehabilitation project for the Cottonwood Improvement District in Sandy, Utah. They selected HydroTech Inc. as a subcontractor and authorized Top Hat™ installer. Over 4,700 linear feet of sewer line was cleaned, inspected, and lined. Once that phase was completed HydroTech was able to rehabilitate the service lateral connections to the equivalent of new to match the rehabilitation work done on the sewer line.
